Kasson Family Aquatic Center
USAquatics, Inc. was hired by The City to perform a full facility assessment of the existing Municipal pool to determine the feasibility of repair.
Due to the conditions of the existing facility and the large cost required simply to bring the facility up to code and repair deficiencies, the decision was made to pursue a new Family Aquatic Center.
USAquatics worked with The City to design a facility that reflected the needs of the community and set it apart from other municipal pools in the area.
The new facility has two separate bodies of water. A 25yd x 25m lap pool with clear aquatic climbing wall, 1 and 3m diving boards. The leisure pool includes a zero depth entry with a kiddie slide and numerous water play features, in pool seating for parents and guardians, ample room for teaching and lessons, a shaded slide tower platform, an enclosed body slide and an open flume slide.
This layout provides ample space for on deck seating and umbrellas to provide protection from the sun. Several rental areas were included to allow for private parties and generate additional revenue. To keep green space while avoiding the hassle of bagging grass clippings, a lounge area with artificial turf was added and has proven to be a popular spot to hang out.
The new bathhouse has proven to be an effective support building. A large covered seating area directly off outside of the concessions area allows a place to take a break from the action. The facility is complete with locker rooms, family change rooms and additional restrooms that accessible to the public.
