Tom founded USAquatics Inc. in 1991 and has more than 33 years of experience in designing, building and consulting in over 1,400 aquatics projects. Tom is a strong advocate for close owner-client relationships and proper training of operators. These beliefs help create the exact facility an owner is after and allows the operators to maintain them properly. Tom is responsible in overseeing all of the current projects, as well as attaining new business.
William G. Deneen, P.E. – Engineer
Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineer – University of Wisconsin , Madison
Bills’ experience in aquatics began in 1992 with the Minnesota Department of Health. One of his assignments with the health department was as a team member responsible for updating the state guidelines for swimming pools. Bill has been an integral part of all designs at USAquatics Inc. since 1996. Bill is a member of the American Consulting Engineers Council and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and holds certificates as a Certified Pool Operator, Aquatic Facility Operator and as an instructor for the Aquatic Facility Operators Course. He is currently registered as a Professional Engineer in 22 states with others pending.
Nicholas R. Nowacki, P.E. – Engineer
Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineer – Minnesota State University, Mankato
Nick has extensive experience in commercial and residential site development with a strong background in site layout, design, construction, scheduling and contract administration. Nick is AFO and CPO Certified and is currently licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin with other states pending, Nick also has his LEED certification.
Richard T. Schaffer – Business and Administration

Rick has been involved in aquatics since 1993 as an accomplished AutoCAD technician, drafter and designer, spec writer and is also one of our construction administration personnel. Rick has supplemented his business degree with a number of courses on contracts, specifications, consulting business practice and other related issues. Rick is also a Certified Pool Operator.
Ryan Johnson – AutoCAD Technician
Associates of Science, Architectural, Drafting and Design – Northwest Technical Institute
Ryan has over eight years of experience as an AutoCAD Technician with USAquatics Inc. His principle responsibility is to create drawings and details that begin with design development and continue through construction. These drawings involve all aspects of pool construction, as well as mechanical rooms and bathhouses. Ryan has worked on over 130 aquatics projects. Ryan is also a Certified Pool Operator.
Ben Schaffer – Project Manager
Ben joined USAquatics Inc. in 2001 as a Project Manager. Ben had four years of experience as an aquatic facility construction project manager and project estimator prior to joining our team. His leadership skills were honed during his experience in the Marines as a weapons and tactics crew chief instructor which he applies to his work with a thorough, methodological approach to all he does.
Aaron Hunter – Aquatics Consultant
Bachelors of Science, Marketing – University of Wisconsin , Eau Claire
Aaron has over eight years experience in opening and operating both indoor and outdoor waterparks. Prior to joining USAquatics Inc. Aaron operated the largest outdoor waterpark in MN, as well as opened the largest indoor waterpark in MN at its time. Aaron’s primary role is to coordinate business development and marketing and assist with program development.
